The HUDSON COUNTY SPECIAL OPERATIONS GROUP
(HC-SOG) has been established to provide the Hudson County Department of Corrections with a group of specially trained personnel capable of effectively responding to emergencies.
The units capabilities will be focused to perform the following types of missions:
- Surveillance/ Intelligence
- Firearm support for tactical operations
- Hostage and / or endangered staff recovery
- Contain and control inmate disturbances
- Overcome or contain armed inmates with the least amount of force necessary
The gang intelligence unit was expanded and its members received the training necessary to make them an effective tool in identifying and dealing with gang issues in the inmate population.
The leadership of the organization believed that with the proliferation of gang membership and activity in the region becoming proactive in this area was a necessity.
The Hudson County Corrections Department K-9 unit continues its tradition of hard work and training. The unit contributes to a multitude of operational goals such as perimeter security, officer safety, and narcotics searches.
In addition to these important functions, the unit renders mutual aid to neighboring departments within Hudson County. The unit also makes an effort to improve the departments standing in the community by conducting K-9 demonstrations in local schools.
