Information, Assistance and Referral
Staff provides information on, and linkage to, community resources and services and advocates on behalf of consumers for the successful resolution of identified problems. The office also maintains a resource library and will soon release a Hudson County Directory of Services for Adults with Disabilities via this website.
Hudson County State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Coordination Staff refers Medicare beneficiaries who have problems or questions regarding their health insurance to volunteer counselors trained in areas of health insurance coverage and benefits. These state-trained counselors provide information and assistance concerning Medicare claims and help to evaluate health insurance needs.
Community Outreach and Education
Staff hosts events, trainings and other learning opportunities that supply information about available services and resources and promote community awareness and social inclusion.

Register Ready/E mergency Preparedness
ODS works closely with the Hudson County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) to ensure inclusion of people with disabilities in County emergency preparedness planning and to manage Register Ready. Register Ready is a free, voluntary and confidential electronic registry for first responders that will identify those who may need special assistance in the event of a disaster or emergency. The Disability Services Planning Council
ODS convenes this advisory group, which is comprised of Hudson County consumers, service providers and other stakeholders. The Council will provide guidance in the identification of service needs and program priorities for Hudson County residents with disabilities.
