PROCLAMATIONS

The Following Proclamation were unanimously passed at the Thursday, January 26, 2006 Meeting of the Board of Freeholders 

PROCLAMATION 

HONORING MICHAEL ALVARADO OF THE HUDSON COUNTY SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY FOR HIS SERVICE IN IRAQ 

           WHEREAS, Michael Alvarado of West New York, New Jersey commenced working for the Hudson County Schools of Technology in June 1998 and is now a Lead Computer Technician at High Tech High School; and 

          WHEREAS, Michael Alvarado began his enlistment with the New Jersey National Guard in December of 1995 and after training at Fort Leonard, Missouri and Fort Gordon, Georgia was assigned to the 250th Signal Battalion in Westfield, New Jersey; and 

          WHEREAS, Michael Alvarado was called upon to provide aid and assistance to those affected during the September 11 attacks and has also been mobilized to guard New Jersey's bridges, tunnels and nuclear power plants; 

          WHEREAS, in November 2005 Michael Alvarado returned from an 18-month tour in support of Operation Iraq Freedom where he served as a Network Switch Supervisor, managing a voice and data network that provided crucial communications throughout Northern Iraq, and providing technical support and guidance to remote operation bases throughout KirKuk and Tikrit; and 

          WHEREAS, Michael Alvarado has returned to the Hudson County Schools of Technology and continues his commitment with the New Jersey National Guard at the rank of Staff Sergeant. 

          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Hudson, that:   

      1.  On behalf of all the residents of Hudson County the Board extends its sincere appreciation and congratulations to Michael Alvarado for his service to our Nation, our schools and our communities. 

      2.     A copy of this proclamation be given to Michael Alvarado as a tribute and indication of the high esteem and regard in which we hold him and his family. 

PROCLAMATION      

HONORING VIHAL PATEL OF THE HUDSON COUNTY SCHOOLS OF TECHNOLOGY FOR HIS SERVICE IN IRAQ 

           WHEREAS, Vihal Patel of Jersey City, New Jersey commenced working for the Hudson County Schools of Technology in November 1998 and is currently the Head Computer Technician for County Prep High School; and 

          WHEREAS, Vihal Patel began his enlistment with the New Jersey National Guard in June 1996 as a Network Switching Systems Operator/Maintainer which enables the U.S. Army to have voice and data communications; and 

          WHEREAS, Vihal Patel worked full time at County Prep High School while attending classes at Bergen Community College and training with the New Jersey National Guard one weekend a month and two full weeks each year; and  

          WHEREAS, Vihal Patel left in June 2004 in preparation for Operation Iraq Freedom 3 (O.I.F. III) and during his tour of duty was also a machine gunner on a convoy team for approximately four months; and 

          WHEREAS, while serving in Iraq, Vihal Patel was promoted from Specialist E-4 to Sergeant E-5 and his tour in Iraq ultimately ended on November 15, 2005, when he returned to County Prep High School and still trains with the New Jersey National Guard. 

          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of the County of Hudson, that:

1.     On behalf of all the residents of Hudson County the Board extends its sincere appreciation and congratulations to Vihal Patel for his service to our Nation, our schools and our communities.
