Gimcheon Delegation Greeting

A NEW SISTER FOR HUDSON — Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise (center)  welcomed Deputy Mayor Song Yong Bae (left) of Gimcheon, South Korea to Hudson County today during a ceremony held at the Historic Brennan Court House in Jersey City. Gimcheon, a city of more than 150,000 residents, is, like Hudson County, a regional transportation hub, lying at the crossroads of major road and rail links to the Korean capital of Seoul. The two leaders officially agreed to the sister community relationship with an eye toward building greater cultural understanding and economic cooperation. The development of the sister community relationship was spearheaded by Jersey City business and civic leader Michael Yun (middle right). The County Executive and Deputy Mayor exchanged citations of goodwill and discussed their two communities similarities and differences during the delegation's half hour visit. Deputy Mayor Seo and his staff will tour Hudson and the wider New York metropolitan area during their week-long stay here in the U.S.
